Mohammad Hossein Akhtari has been reappointed as Iran’s ambassador to Syria.

Akhtari, who was previously ambassador to Syria from 1990 to 1998, presented his credentials to Bashar Assad, Syria’s president on December 28.
An internal report from inside the Iranian regime in 1995 reads: “Speaking to a crowd of Hezbollah members on his trip to Lebanon, Akhtari, ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran said, ’Tehran has deployed its Muslim soldiers all over the world to bring America and Israel to their knees. I consider the US president and all their allies, slaves to Israel. But their days are numbered and Islam will soon get to them… Iran has sent its soldiers to every corner of the globe and they are all ready to commit suicide bombings. They can go anywhere… Iran will never bow to America’s pressure through Europe or anywhere else for that matter. The Hezbollah remains Iran’s main bastion in the war against Islam’s enemy…’”

In 1997 documents uncovered showed that Akhtari had been paying Iranian agents in Lebanon a quarterly salary of 5 million Dollars.

After returning to Iran in 1997, Akhtari became Khamenei’s liaison officer with terrorist groups.
He became the President of the World Ahle-Beyt Convention, and received a large budget to increase efforts to spread Islamic fundamentalism in Islamic countries.

He has also been responsible for all matters concerning Iraq in Khamenei’s office since 2002, organising and sending directives to the different sections and organisations.

Coordination between the Foreign Ministry, Qods Force, Ministry of Intelligence, Organisation of Islamic Relations, and the leading Ayatollahs in Iran, on terrorist activities, was done under Akhtari’s supervision.
